2026 Mission Trip  to Kenya

Mission Trip Summary

SDF will purchase 320 BURN ecoa wood burning cookstoves for 3+ Maasai communities in Kajiado County, Kenya.  Our local partners, Hami Imani Africa (HIA) and Kenya Association of Baptist Churches will facilitate the creation of table banking groups prior to the arrival of the Mission Team (MT).  HIA will conduct a needs assessment and pre-qualify small group families to receive the cookstove(s).  The recipients must be active participants in a small group, contribute 500 Ksh as seed funds for their table bank group, and be willing to learn how to use the cookstove to reduce wood consumption and decrease family expenses.  The MT will raise funds for the cookstoves ($30 ea), present on 2 themes at the sponsor churches to the table banking groups: 1) Biblical based Finances (with a spin towards savings and helping one another); 2) God's Plan for Creation (why reducing wood consumption is important and how this contributes to God's Plan).  While the presentations are on-going, we will conduct several children's programs (VBS like) to supervise the children for the presentation attendees (their mothers).

Tentative Agenda - 13-day Trip (4 travel days; 6 days of mission; 2 per community; 1 day of fun (Safari); 1 day for worship, 1 day of shopping / travel).
